How the public portfolio handles visitor input and distinguishes evidence from illustration. Updated 12 October 2026.
Notes and email updates
The feedback and updates forms prepare a message in your email app. They do not send it automatically or submit it to a website database. Copy buttons copy a draft to your clipboard. Once you choose to send, your email provider and the receiving mailbox handle the message.
Updates requests go to olukotunile@gmail.com. The current form is an email request, not an automatic newsletter subscription. To stop requested updates, reply or email that address with “Unsubscribe”. Please avoid sending confidential workplace records or sensitive details about other people.
Interactive teaching tools
The sentiment input and learning controls run in your browser. The teaching tool does not upload or save the text you enter. Its small English-language examples do not establish how the model performs across dialects, languages or communities.
Football data and local notes
The public companion loads a dated, attributed copy of statistics from the club’s public table. Team results and goal counts do not measure individual ability. The separate match lab processes fictional examples or records you import in the current tab; it does not upload them. Downloads remain your responsibility to store and share appropriately.
The weekly reflection saves only when you select “Save on this device”. It uses this browser’s local storage and can persist after closing the tab. Use the clear control for the selected name, or remove this site’s stored data through your browser settings. Anyone with access to that browser profile may be able to read saved notes; use a nickname and avoid sensitive information.
External services
Site pages are delivered through the hosting provider, which receives the request information needed to serve them. Many pages load fonts from Google Fonts. The Ifẹ̀ page embeds a YouTube video using its privacy-enhanced domain; loading or playing third-party content involves requests to that provider. External links and YouTube subscriptions are handled by those services.
Evidence and representation
Workplace source records remain private. Original charts identify synthetic or restricted data; additional method diagrams are illustrations. AI-generated heritage images are labelled as interpretive concept art. Family testimony, historical research and dramatic invention have different evidential status. These accounts do not establish present title rights or speak for every Yorùbá community.

Language preferences
The language selector works on this site using locally served Yorùbá and Russian navigation, shared labels, page introductions and machine-assisted article translations. It does not send page text or form entries to a translation provider. Your language preference is stored in this browser and can also appear as lang=yo or lang=ru in a page link. Selecting English changes it back; clearing this site’s browser data removes the saved preference. Full articles, source quotations and specialist tool outputs are not yet fully translated. The Start here guide uses only your current choices and does not save or transmit them.

Yorùbá, Russian and Igbo offer ways into these stories in another language. We translate the intention of a passage, including its warmth, register and context, rather than copying English sentence patterns. These are AI-assisted drafts and editorial revisions, not native-speaker certification. Fluent-speaker review remains important. The English original is always available in the language menu.
We aim to preserve meaning, figures, uncertainty and the distinction between evidence and interpretation. Proper names, source titles, code and standard technical acronyms may remain unchanged. Some generated tool outputs, map labels, image text, videos, downloadable documents and passages awaiting translation remain in English. A translated page is not a claim of complete coverage or verified accuracy.

Russian favours idiomatic contemporary written language. Yorùbá preserves meaningful tone marks and uses clear explanations for specialist ideas. Igbo begins with Standard Igbo, while welcoming clearly identified dialect alternatives. Family names, sacred terms and quotations are not freely rewritten. English jokes may be rephrased when a literal translation would lose the point; factual and safety qualifications must stay precise.
Igbo honours Lékan’s maternal family. Russian honours Daria and Adémidé’s family connections without displacing Lithuanian in their home. A translation should welcome its readers, not imply that any language or dialect represents every speaker.
Russian joins English and Yorùbá in recognition of Daria and Adémidé’s maternal heritage. Russian draft translations were prepared with the Helsinki-NLP OPUS-MT English–Russian model, with subsequent context-based editorial revisions to navigation, introductions and selected passages. This is not an endorsement or certification by the model authors. Original names and language-learning examples retain their source spelling.
The wording is drafted for this site with AI assistance. The following resources were consulted for language guidance or checked as reference resources; they did not generate or certify these translations. We do not send visitor text to an external translation service.
- University of Wisconsin–Madison-hosted Yorùbá Dictionary: sounds and pronunciation — orthographic guidance on high, mid and low tones. Tone marks distinguish meaning; underdots also matter.
- YorubaName — a specialist reference for names, their spelling, tones and meanings. Its work informs our attention to names; it is not a general sentence-translation service.
- The Yoruba Dictionary at Yale — a further dictionary for checking vocabulary. Listing it here does not mean every word on this site has been individually verified against it.
For specialist ideas we favour a plain explanation over an invented claim that one term is universally accepted. Standard labels such as AI, BA, Python and machine-learning algorithm names remain available so readers can follow the original technical sources.

These choices can be improved. Historical and cultural sources linked within each article support its subject matter; they are not blanket endorsements of the translation.

Optional personal tool learning
Public tool suggestions are off until you enable them. The browser stores the tool identifier, title, themes, your explicit useful/not-useful rating and its date under olukotun-tool-learning-v1. A small model uses these ratings locally to suggest tools. We do not record your text inputs, page visits or private-app activity for this feature, and no feedback is sent to our server. Ordinary hosting requests for public files still occur.
Pause suggestions or remove individual ratings in the learning panel. Reset my learning deletes its browser record. This storage is specific to this browser and site; it does not follow you across devices or sign-ins. On a shared device, reset it before another person uses your suggestions.
